Men of Niger State Police Command has arrested a trader/landlord, identified as Emmanuel and his gate in Lapai Local Government Area of the state for allegedly killing a 4 year old male child identified as Hassan Ibrahim for ritual purposes.
While confirming the story, the spokesperson for the command, DSP Abiodun Wasiu, said that in Minna the Niger state capital, that the suspects have been reprimanded and investigation is ongoing and he advised against jungle justice.
According to reports, 4 year old Ibrahim, had been missing for 4 days before his remains were seen in a sack bag which was about to be disposed off in the river by the gateman before the motorcycle rider noticed the blood dripping from the suspects sack bag.
The Landlord and his gateman, allegedly killed the boy and harvested his vital organs which includes his heart, eyes, private parts and ears.
A resident of the area who wanted to remain anonymous, said Emmanuel a building material trader, conspired with his gateman who was caught while trying to dispose off the remains of the victim to carry out the dastard act.
"The gateman entered a motorcycle to a stream where he was to dispose of the remains, but on dropping the gateman, the motorcyclist noticed blood dripping from the sack.
"The commercial motorcyclist alerted the bystanders and police.”
The police responded to the crime alert which led to the arrest of the gateman who later confessed to the crime and revealed that he and Emmanuel were responsible for the boys disappearance.
Maryam Kwambo, a resident of the area, described the heartbreaking incident as the first of it's kind in the area.
“Since the creation of Lapai local government area, we’ve never encountered such a radical and wicked situation as today,” she said.
“We will get to the root of this. We will get justice for the child. Just four days ago, we heard information about the missing child and no one could give an account of his whereabouts.
“This matter should be handled properly. We seek justice.”
Abdullahi Musa, another resident of the area, said:
"There are evil men in every community. Emmanuel is one of them. We have set his house on fire. We wish he was the one we got; we would have killed him.”
The suspect, was saved by the police from the hands of angry mob to prevent jungle justice from being carried out.
Angry youths in the community, set the house, car and personal belongings of Emmanuel on fire.
