The World Bank has appointed Victoria Kwakwa as the new World Bank Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, effective starting from, Friday, July 1, 2022.
Kwakwa succeeds Hafez Ghanem, who retired from the World Bank on June 30, 2022. Victoria Kwakwa is a Ghanaian economist, born in Ghana -West Africa. She was a former vice president at the world bank for East Asia and the Pacific between April 2016 to August 2021, she later became a director of the World Bank in Vietnam before her current position in the world back to serve as Vice president for Eastern and Southern Africa
Kwakwa, an economist and development expert with over 30 years of experience, will lead an active regional program including a financing portfolio of over 300 projects totaling more than $50 billion and extensive policy research and advice.
But there are questions and problems bordering on the core African peoples, World Bank and IMF loans to Africa Nations, and how beneficial are these loads to the ordinary masses across Africa?
It will interest you to know that World Bank and IMF have been giving loans for decades to African nations, where most of these loans don't get to the people. Sadly the corrupt African leaders keep looting these loans among themselves, yet World Bank and IMF keep giving out loans to them without asking some basic questions about how the previous loans given to them were used
Are the African people benefiting from all those mega projects and billions of dollars in loans the world bank and IMF have been giving to African nations for decades? or are the loans being looted by African corrupt leaders?
I sincerely doubt if the loans are getting to the ordinary people in Africa, is the World Bank getting the right feedback directly from the African masses across the African street? The answer is no. Or the World Bank and IMF are just buying on the lies the African corrupt leaders are telling them?
I sincerely doubt again if innocent African people are benefiting from all these mega loads and grants the world bank and IMF are releasing to African nations that will affect the future of the entire continents
.
Now, for instance, people in charge of the World Bank’s media team for Africa hardly even read articles written about the World Bank, and IMF related to issues boarding Africa, they do not interact with the African journalists covering them.
It does not even seem they care about the people who are meant to benefit from those loans, billions and billions of dollars in loans keep going to Africa only to be looted by corrupt leaders in Africa.
They keep giving loans without following a due process like making sure the loans are used for the purpose it was given, not stolen by those in power
Multiple reports have it that World Bank and IMF care more or less about how these mega loans they keep giving to corrupt African leaders are used, as many people in Washington DC just clock in and clock out, without traveling to Africa, visiting the people in their various homes and street, asking the vital questions to know if the ordinary masses are benefiting from all these loans
Indeed the World Bank and IMF need to travel down to Africa to engage with the people covering them or with Africans who should benefit from their loans, couple a time we keep telling them, that 99% of these loans their are giving to Africa nations don't get to the people, as there are fully looted among the Corrupt Africa leaders, shared among themselves with nothing getting to the people the loan was meant for
It just seems to be like loans out, interests in, loans out, interests in, and life moves on. Yes, there are great speeches, expensive trips, flights, hotels, and all the rest, but nothing changes. It’s just about loans out, and interests. May God help Africa. Joe reporting from World Forum Live. Click here to Join the forum all for free and be a voice to world
