In her post the newly crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceana Chidimma Adetshina thanks Africans and more importantly Nigerians for standing by her at her lowest moment.

Said African Nigerians picked me up and gave me new hope of living “To Nigeria: THANK YOU, thank you so much is not enough for all the support you’ve shown. At my lowest moment in life, you came for me.

You picked me up when I was at my lowest. I’ve never opened up much but I was ready to give up on my life but you became my strength, on days I never wanted to fight you gave me the strength to fight. I’m so grateful to each and every one for walking this journey with me.

She also addressed the African continent, saying, “To Africa: thank you for showing your love and support. As much as I represent Nigeria, our win is a win for Africa who all fought for me.

My voice and my story touched many and brought us together. This journey has taught me the power of Unity. I want us to live in a society where we can all accept and celebrate one another.” Be united as humans.

Her journey so far was very controversial but in the end, it all ended in glory as Chidimma Adetshina is today Miss Universe First runner up, a crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceana, it has been truly remarkable!

As reported she was born in South Africa to a Nigerian father, she initially participated in the Miss South Africa competition in 2024 but faced a heated nationality controversy that led to her withdrawal, not giving up.

Despite this setback, she received an invitation from the Miss Universe Nigeria Organization to compete for the national crown, Miss Universe Nigeria of which she quickly moved. She changed her location to a Nigerian

She left South Africa her home country where she was rejected, bullied, and censored, coming to Nigeria her Father's country gave her a chance to compete, and she won thereby allowing her to represent her father's homeland on the international stage.

Today many are saying she fought the good fight, a situation where many will easily get depressed, Chidimma's determination and resilience paid off as she was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. She then went on to make history by becoming the first Nigerian to finish as the first runner-up at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant, held in Mexico City.
